Kumbh Mela is a sacred festival that commemorates the mythological event of the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan), which resulted in the emergence of amrit (the nectar of immortality). The festival is held at four locations: Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nashik. Each site hosts the Kumbh Mela every twelve years, with Prayagraj being the most significant due to its historical and spiritual importance.During the event, pilgrims gather to take a holy dip in the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers at Triveni Sangam, believing it purifies them of sins and brings them closer to salvation.
