Itinerary

Day: 1

Arrive Phnom Penh

Welcome to Phnom Penh a city that retains its traditional Khmer and colonial styles with French villas and tree-lined sidewalk. On arrival, meet our representative who will transfer you to your hotel. Start your first day at Cambodia by visiting the impressive Royal Palace to give you an insight into the history of the country. The Silver pagodas which houses the Emerald Buddha and a bizarre structure which was gift by Napoleon to the Cambodian King are all part of the complex. Learn interesting facts about them before stopping at the Independence Monument and the National museum; that contains more than 5000 art antiques. Walk up to the Wat Phnom (a Hill Temple) from where Phnom Penh got its name. In the evening stroll, down to the Central Market where hawkers are peddling everything from jewelry, to electronics and food. This is the best place to get a feel of the local culture. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day: 2

Phnom Penh - Siem Reap (320 Kms / Approx 5 hours)

Day 2 starts with the Tuol Sleng prison or the Genocide Museum, the most horrifying reminder of the Khmer Rouge Regime. Feel your goose bumps rise as you hear the stories about the torture that took place here and see the photographs of the victims and the cells that they were kept in. After understanding the gruesome historic past, head to the bus station to board a bus to Siem Reap the epicenter of chic Cambodia, with everything from backpacker party pads to hip hotels, world-class wining and dining across a range of cuisines, sumptuous spas and great shopping. Upon arrival check into the hotel. We suggest use this time to visit the Pub Street in downtown Siem Reap, an ideal place for a night out. As the name suggests the street is a wonderful place to bar-hop and spend the night tasting some unique cocktails and beers with other visitors to the country. Overnight stay at the hotel.

The muddle of styles which is the Bayon Temple, the carved elephants at the Terrace of the Elephants, Baphuon, a three-tiered temple mountain and Royal Palace with its impressive sandstone pyramid. In the afternoon, visit Angkor Wat temple, the largest religious monument in the world. Interestingly it is dedicated to Vishnu and has stories of Ramayana carved on it. In the evening, you can visit the Angkor night market on your own. It has over 200 bamboo huts selling a wide range of clothing and handicrafts by local communities. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day: 4

Siem Reap - Angkor City Tour

Day 4 start amidst the beautiful ruins of Ta Prohm temple, early in the morning which is the time when it looks ethereal. The dense trees surrounding the temple gives it a romantic feel. It is recommended to have a torch to get around the temple. Just south of Ta Prohm is Banteay Kdei, a smaller structure where you would be able to enjoy the place with less crowds. There are various other structures which can be visited either on foot, or tuk tuk or a cycle. Spend the morning amidst the monuments and in the afternoon, visit the highlights of the Grand Circuit including: Preah Khan or the Sacred Sword, famous for its immensely long cruciform corridors and delicate carvings. End the day at Pre Rup a perfect setting for spectacular sunsets. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Here, you can see plenty of examples of the Khmer way of life on the Tonle Sap. Also visit Wat Bo, an 18th century Pagoda which contains some unique wall paintings. In the evening you are free to explore the nightlife of Siemp Reap. Lively bars, cocktail lounges, international restaurants and vibrant nightclubs stay open till the wee hours of the morning.
