India’s north eastern Himalayan corridor is dotted with towns and settlements that provide the perfect vantage points to admire and laud the rocky frontiers beyond. These scenic towns perched on sides of mountains are a timeless image of life beholden to nature’s writ. They are decorated with rolling tea fields, verdant valleys and lives that haven’t changed much for centuries.

Tibetan Self-Help Center holds special significance for immigrating Tibetans. Enjoy the views from the Ropeway and Darjeeling’s Tea Gardens, before an uplifting visit to Peace Pagoda. After breakfast, set off for Kalimpong. Check-in and begin a tour of Kalimpong’s favourite sights. Start with Mangal Dham, a highly revered shrine, and proceed to Deolo Hill, overlooking Kalimpong. At Graham’s Homes, witness a system of education that’s a throwback to colonial times. Another colonial remnant is the perfectly maintained Golf Garden. Also check out Kalimpong’s famous flower nurseries, before visiting the Durpin Dara Hills. Overnight stay in Kalimpong.
After breakfast, it’s time to drive to Gangtok. Check-in upon arrival and proceed to the colorful Flower Exhibition Centre. At Cottage Industry and Handicraft Centre, sample some local art and craft. Proceed to Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, for its museum of Tibetan artefacts. Witness native Buddhist traditions at Dro Dul Chorten stupa and Ranka Monastery, before visiting the tall, gushing Banjakhri Falls. Overnight stay in Gangtok.
Have breakfast and set off for Tsomgo Lake at a height of 12,400 feet, silhouetted against grey mountains and clear blue skies. Also in the vicinity is the unique shrine of Baba Mandir, dedicated to a legendary Indian Army soldier, Harbhajan Singh. Return to a hearty dinner and overnight stay in Gangtok.
A final breakfast concludes this amazing trip. Bid goodbye and depart for Bagdodra Airport or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station to get on your way home.
