Discover

Why Australia

  • Three holidays in one

A world-class city, the Great Barrier Reef and wide-open nature — Australia covers all three, best linked by short domestic flights.

  • Summer when it’s winter at home

From October to April the south is warm and bright: beach days, outdoor dining and long evenings.

  • Wildlife you won’t see elsewhere

Kangaroos, koalas, wombats and, on the reef, turtles and manta rays — most of them found nowhere else.

A first visit: 10 nights

Recommended length: 10–14 nights

  1. Sydney4 nights
  2. Melbourne3 nights
  3. Cairns3 nights

Domestic flights link each city. Families often swap Cairns for the Gold Coast’s theme parks.

Choose the right season

When to go

Spring (October–November) and autumn (March–April) are the sweet spots in the south; December to February is hot summer with peak prices. In the tropical north, November to April is the wet and cyclone season — October is the best month there.

Practical tips for Australia
  • Australia is big — fly between cities rather than driving long distances.
  • Declare all food at the airport; biosecurity rules are strict.
  • Swim at patrolled beaches between the red-and-yellow flags; in tropical Queensland wear a stinger suit or swim inside nets from November to May.
  • The sun is strong even on cloudy days — hat, sunscreen and water.
